Women in Engineering Chair | Applications Invited for Role of Chapter Chair 2023-2024 – Application Date Extended
Applications are invited from suitably experienced UK and Ireland (UK&I) Women in Engineering Affinity Group (AG) Members for the role of the Chapter Chair.
IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is the largest international professional organisation dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists. The mission of IEEE WIE is to facilitate the recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines globally. IEEE WIE envisions a vibrant community of IEEE women and men collectively using their diverse talents to innovate for the benefit of humanity.
The IEEE Women in Engineering United Kingdom and Ireland Affinity Group adopts the Mission and Principles of IEEE WIE.
The Chair is required to direct and drive the Affinity Group to greater heights and achievement and be responsible for the following:
- Ensuring that at least two technical meetings are conducted and reported in a calendar year
- Recruiting volunteers, provide leadership and guidance to them, mentor your successor, and ensure that AG activities are focused on increasing member engagement and satisfaction
- Presiding at meetings of the Chapter and the Chapter Committee
- Operating the AG to maximize satisfaction of Chapter member needs with the resources available
- Preparing reports of AG Activities for submission to the Section Secretary, Region and/or Society Chapter Coordinators
- Ensure that the AG is in compliance with IEEE Policies and local regulations
- The Chair’s role typically require 1-2 hours a week, and at peak periods over 3 hours per week, but most importantly, the role requires someone who will be accessible and available.
