Presentation | The Nuts and Bolts of UKCA and UKNI Marking by Alex Toohie
As part of the IEEE UK and Ireland EMC Chapter meeting held at Newbury Racecourse on 18th May 2022 Alex Toohie, Business Development Manager at Element Materials Technology, delivered a presentation on UKCA and UKNI marking.
The presentation contained an overview of what the UKCA marking means, when it applies, and what pieces of legislation sit behind it. It ran through the obligations of the various economic operators, i.e. manufacturers, importers, distributors, and authorised representatives.
It looked at how UKCA is similar to CE marking, and how it is different, and explored the conformity assessment procedures available under different regulations, how to cover them, what documentation is needed, and what level of testing should be carried out.
The presentation focused on EMC-specific topics, but also considered the wider compliance landscape covering radio communications, product safety, etc.
The event was co-sponsored by the EMCTLA and hosted by Cherry Clough Consultants.
