Watch Again | IEEE UK and Ireland Section Christmas Lecture 2019
IEEE UK and Ireland Section was honoured to have IEEE President, José M. F. Moura and IET President, Peter William Bonfield as speakers at the 2019 Christmas Lecture.
Professor Moura spoke on “Data (Big), Computing (Fast), and Algorithms (Learning) – The New Opportunities for a Bright Future” and Dr Bonfield, “Perspectives on Engineering and Technology for the Future”.
This was the first time in history that leaders of the IET and IEEE had shared the same platform at the same event and was an event not to be missed.
The lecture took place on the Old Regent Street Cinema at the University of Westminster, who also provided refreshments and mince pies afterwards. Over 120 people attended the event which was widely praised by those who were there in person and those who watched online.
Also at the event a plaque was presented to outgoing IEEE UK and Ireland Section Chair, Mike Hinchey, in recognition and appreciation of his work in leading the organisation over the last two years. Professor Izzet Kale was announced as the Section Vice Chair for 2020-22, joining Dr Mona Ghassemian who takes up the mantle of Chair for the next two years.
