The UK and Ireland Section were recipients of several awards at this year’s award ceremony held during the 119th IEEE Region 8 meeting in Cairo on October 15-16 2022.
Section Welcomes IEEE President-Elect Prof Saifur Rahman
UK and Ireland Section was delighted to welcome IEEE President-Elect Prof Saifur Rahman to the UK recently. Prof Rahman held a meeting at the University of Westminster on the evening of Tuesday 25th October 2022 along with IEEE Chief Operating Officer Stephen Welby.

The autumn Section ExCom and Chapter Chairs' Meeting was held in the magnificent surroundings of University College Dublin. To accommodate those that were unable to travel, the meeting was held in a hybrid form with access available via Zoom.

On 26th October 2022, we celebrated the IEEE Milestone Award that recognises the outstanding engineering achievement by Godfrey Hounsfield, enabling the practical realisation of high-resolution X-ray images of internal structures of the human body and marking the beginning of a new era in clinical medicine.
