IEEE UK & Ireland Power and Energy Chapter | Applications Invited for 2024 Outstanding Engineer and Volunteer Awards

Power and Energy Society

Applications for the 2024 Outstanding Engineer and Volunteer Awards are now open. If you are interested in applying, please contact our Secretary, Lee Crudgington, at l.j.c@ieee.org. The deadline for submissions is 31st October.

Recognising your contributions to IEEE PES as an outstanding engineer and volunteer is very important to us. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to nominate a deserving colleague or self-nominate for these awards. Below is a brief summary of each award:

IEEE PES Outstanding Engineer Award Programme

This programme allows each PES Chapter to recognise the exceptional contributions of local engineers to the power engineering profession. Established in 1994 by the PES Executive Board, this award honours outstanding technical, professional, and societal contributions in the field of power engineering.

There are two categories: one for more experienced members (over 15 years) and another for those with less experience (under 15 years). Nominations are open for both categories.

Suggested areas for award nominations include:

  • Outstanding technical contributions to the power engineering profession.
  • Exceptional professional and leadership contributions to the power engineering profession.
  • Significant contributions to the local community representing the power engineering profession.
  • Outstanding contributions in the area of power engineering education.

Eligibility: The recipient must be a member of both IEEE and PES.

IEEE PES Outstanding Chapter Volunteer Award (OCVA) Programme

This programme provides each PES Chapter with the opportunity to recognise a volunteer’s contributions to the local chapter. Initiated by Chapter Leadership and approved by the PES Executive Board in 2015, this award highlights significant volunteer efforts.

Examples of areas for consideration include:

  • Members who played significant roles during a conference in which the chapter was involved
  • Organisers or key contributors to Chapter affinity groups (e.g., Young Professionals, Women in Power)
  • Members who significantly contributed to chapter events or operations
  • Chapter ADCOM/EXCOM Committee Chairs or members
  • Chapter webmaster, social media coordinator, etc.

Eligibility: The recipient must be a member of both IEEE and PES.

We look forward to receiving your nominations.
