IEEE UK and Ireland Nanotechnology Chapter | Call for Participation

Dear members of IEEE Nanotechnology Chapter, UK & Ireland section,

We are reaching out to inform you of unique opportunities to contribute to the growth and success of our esteemed IEEE Nanotechnology Chapter, UK & Ireland. The below positions for our IEEE Nanotechnology Chapter, UK & Ireland are currently vacant, and we are seeking dedicated members who possess a passion for our community and the skills necessary to fulfil these roles.

1- Treasurer Role:

The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining the financial accounts of the Chapter.  Since final approval of an activity may depend on the finances available, it is important that financial records be kept current and as accurate as possible.

Responsibilities:

The specific duties of the Treasurer include:

  • Work with the IEEE UK&I Section Treasurer to maintain the Chapter’s financial records
  • Prepare the final Financial Statement and annual budget for inclusion with the Annual Report of Activities
  • Oversee all fundraising efforts
  • Arrange for an orderly transfer of all Chapter financial records to the incoming Treasurer
  • Attend ExCom meetings

Eligibility:

  • Must be an IEEE member of good standing
  • Must be of graduate student member, member, senior member or fellow grade
  • Must reside in the geographic boundaries of the chapter
  • Must be capable of tracking the financial details of the chapter. In addition, the Treasurer must match income and expenditures against the approved budget and match those transactions against assigned projects, initiatives or tasks

2- Executive Committee Member Role:

The Chapter is looking to appoint 2 Executive Committee Members to join us. The executive committee members would attend the executive committee meetings, provide feedback and participate in discussions, offer insights to help shape strategic plans and improve the overall direction of the chapter. The Executive Committee Members will have the voting right in making strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Attend the ExCom meetings, and provide opinions and feedback on discussions
  • Assist in shaping the strategic direction of the chapter
  • Serve as a sounding board for new initiatives in the chapter
  • Focus on improving the overall experience of chapter members, gathering feedback, and suggesting initiatives for increased member satisfaction and retention
  • Vote for making strategic decisions in the Executive Committee meetings
  • Organise one chapter activities per year, e.g. to invite and chair a seminar

Eligibility:

  • Being an IEEE member with experience in IEEE activities, and a broad understanding of the fields of interest within IEEE.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to articulate constructive feedback.
  • A commitment to attending ExCom meetings and contributing to the discussions.
  • Must be of graduate student member, member, senior member or fellow grade
  • Must reside in the geographic boundaries of the chapter
