Webinar | Blockchain: Introduction to Blockchain in Energy Projects by Brian O’Regan, International Energy Research Centre and Barry Hayes, University College Cork
In the webinar we will discuss a couple of projects based in Ireland (CENTS and EnerPort) and introduce the audience to the IEA DSM TCP Global Observatory on Peer-to-Peer, Community Self-Consumption & Transactive Energy Models (GO-P2P). CENTS is a disruptive technology platform for the electricity sector where citizens and communities will be empowered with the necessary tools, to trade excess electricity generated in their buildings, earn from doing this and to be an integral part of decarbonising their homes and communities for sustainable living.
“EnerPort” was an Irish government and industry-funded collaborative project where blockchain technology was used to develop a peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trade model to support energy trade between microgrids. GO-P2P Observatory is a Task under the Demand Side Management Technology Collaboration Programme (DSM TCP) by the International Energy Agency.
