Abstract
Networking plays a vital role for students who are starting their career. This webinar will introduce the speaker’s career roadmap from Academia to Industry in the UK and show the speaker’s core strengths during his 13-year practice in the UK’s academia and industry. Strengths and weaknesses for postgraduate students when entering the UK’s energy industry will be presented.
The session will conclude with a discussion of how postgraduate students can leverage their strengths and improve their weaknesses for careers in the UK’s energy industry.
Biography
Dr Dechao Kong is currently a Power System Engineer and the Subject-Matter Expert in DC Systems and Power Electronics in National Grid Electricity System Operator, UK.
He has been getting heavily involved in the UK’s academia and industry since 2008, contributing his such subject-matter expertise in technical strategy & policy development, new technology & innovation, engineering, and asset management in the areas of DC Systems and Power Electronics.
Dechao obtained his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Birmingham, UK. He is a Chartered Engineer and was an IEEE member. He is the elected UK Regular Member of CIGRE (The International Council on Large Electric Systems) B4 Study Committee – DC Systems and Power Electronics since August 2020.
