Event Review | IEEE UK&I Women in Engineering Career Development Day
IEEE Women in Engineering UK and Ireland was delighted to hold a successful in-person event titled ‘Career Development Day’ on 30 September 2022. The event was led by IEEE WIE UK & I Student Activities Lead Mona Jaber. It was the first event of the series held at Octagon Hall, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). It was sponsored by Cisco.
The event included inspirational talks by distinguished speakers including IEEE UK & Ireland Section Chair Izzet Kale, Yue Wang from Samsung, Yansha Deng from King’s College London, Joel Obstfeld from Cisco, Ruth Brown from Heavy Reading, Joanne Chamberlain from QMUL, and IEEE UK & Ireland WIE Early Profession Lead Nagham Saeed.
The event also included poster presentations from Mojan Omidvar, Shahed Alali Alghrsi, Noora Almarri, and Hadeel A. who did an amazing jobs and impressed the panellists with the quality of their work.
The winner of the poster competition was Noora Almarri who won a free registration to an IEEE ComSoc conference; many thanks to IEEE Communications Society for supporting this event.
The runner up was Shahed Alali Alghrsi who won a place at the Early Career Talks organised by the Ambassador’s Programme of IEEE Women in Engineering UK and Ireland.
