Call for Society Chapter Committee Members
The IEEE UK & Ireland Section is welcoming volunteer applications for committee members in the following society chapters:
- Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society.
- Industry Applications Society.
- Industrial Electronics Society.
- Joint Broadcast Technology and Consumer Technology Society.
- Joint Technology and Engineering Management and Professional Communication Society.
The IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) is a community of researchers and practitioners collaborating and designing tools to understand our interaction with Earth’s ecosystems, to monitor its environments, oceans and ice caps, and to characterize potential risks.

The Industry Applications Society, is interested in advancement of the theory and practice of electrical and electronic engineering in the development, design, manufacture and application of electrical systems, apparatus, devices and controls to the processes and equipment of industry and commerce; promotion of safe, reliable and economic installations; industry leadership in energy conservation and environmental, health, and safety issues; creation of voluntary engineering standards and recommended practices; and the professional development of its membership.

The IEEE Broadcast Technology Society field of interest shall encompass devices, equipment, techniques, and systems related to broadcast technology, including the production, distribution, wired and wireless transmission, propagation aspects and reception.
The IEEE Consumer Technology Society is an organization within the IEEE that strives for the advancement of the theory and practice of Electronic Engineering and of the allied arts and sciences with respect to the field of Consumer Electronics and the maintenance of a high professional standing among its members, which now number over 5000.

The IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society Encompasses the management sciences and practices required for defining, implementing, and managing engineering and technology. Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to: technology policy development, assessment, and transfer; research; product design and development; manufacturing operations; innovation and entrepreneurship; program and project management; strategy; education and training; organizational development and human behaviour; transitioning to management; and the socioeconomic impact of engineering and technology management.
The IEEE Professional Communication Society‘s interests include the study, preparation, production, delivery, use, improvement, and promotion of human communication in all media in engineering and other technical and professional environments.

In the case of ‘joint’ chapters with overlapping subject areas, the committee members must be a member of both parent societies and aim to equally represent each society within the chapter. All chapters must represent all regions of the United Kingdom and Ireland.
