The 8th UHVnet Colloquium will be hosted by ALSTOM Grid and Staffordshire University in Stafford on the 14th and 15th of January 2015. The event will offer a combination of technical visits to see ALSTOM Grid’s HVDC Transmission Technologies and plenary oral and poster sessions at Staffordshire University. Papers are particularly invited from Postgraduate Students and Early Career Researchers, for whom the Colloquium provides an ideal platform to present their work to others within the UK’s High Voltage (HV) Engineering community. The organisers welcome the submission of abstracts that cover the usual broad spectrum of research topics, while the keynote lectures will address the challenges posed by achieving future sustainable power networks and how this might affect the research agenda in future, with a particular focus on HVDC power transmission technologies.

Who we are
DEIS is the Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society whose field of interest includes the study and application of dielectrics from the molecular level, through nano-structured materials, to insulation systems in industrial, commercial, and power system equipment, to emerging applications such as those at high power levels and in biological and other small-scale systems. DEIS supports the entire scope of this field from advancing the basic science, to enhancing the ability of practicing engineers to use emerging dielectric materials, to the development of standards for the prudent application of existing and new insulation systems. To find out more about the society, you can visit the main DEIS website.
